The Myth of Sydney Being Drought Proof

An accurate and timely article by James Woodford, from the Sydney Morning Herald, describing the state of water resources that residents of Sydney and the Illawarra, are in. Our politicians are sending the wrong message to our city neighbours, almost saying "She'll be right mate", that we have this "new" resource in the form of groundwater as a severe drought measure. This resource is a precious, high quality source of drinking water. The only use of this water, if any, should be to conserve and protect it for future generations and the environment, or in a worst case scenario, as an emergency level source to provide clean drinking water in the event of a natural disaster or act of war or other catastrophic event.
